Participated in the performance of Improvisations III by John Cage in Eldborg main hall in Harpa tonight with Dagur Kári Pétursson, Stilluppsteypa, Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir, Þóranna Björnsdóttir, and Maya Dunietz – our hats off to our fellow performers, conductor Ilan Volkov, and William Blakeney for providing us recordings by the man himself – ritual duties were observed, of course, by way of Laphroaig and reading of the I Ching by coin tossing. The ancient oracle yielded hexagram 61.
We’re excited and humbled by our upcoming participation in the performance of John Cage’s Improvisations III with a number of other artists at the first run of the Tectonics Music Festival curated by Ilan Volkov, March 1-3 in Harpa, Reykjavík.

Last Friday and Saturday, Reptilicus, along with Senking and Runar Magnusson on the Saturday, stopped by the legendary Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton, Canada, founded by the Lanois brothers and the site of numerous classic recordings. A collection of beautiful vintage modular synths was made available for our sonic exploration, among them EMS Synthi A, ARP 2600 + sequencer, Moog 15, Minimoog, Roland System 100 + sequencer.
We were privileged to have Bob Doidge at the mixing desk, and enjoyed the assistance and deep expertise of Dean Batute when operating the vintage gear. Rob Fantinatto filmed the Saturday session, but he’s working on a documentary on modular synths: I Dream of Wires.
All of this was made possible by the great Bill Blakeney and Praveer Baijal of Yatra-Arts, to both of whom we’re eternally grateful. The studio sessions at Grant Avenue were a great combination with the two concerts in Toronto and Hamilton organised by Yatra-Arts.

Today was the first day of shooting for the Initial Conditions’ video on the windy shores of Hafnarfjörður, Iceland, with actress Ylfa and camera crew Bjarki Markússon and Ómar Sverrisson.

Test pressing for Initial Conditions just arrived and is being subjected to painstaking scrutiny.
Reptilicus will play two gigs in Toronto in late November, organised by Yatra-Arts, Icelandic Canadian Club of Toronto, Toronto Best Party, Reykjavík Loftbrú and Goethe Institut, all in celebration of our first release in over a decade, the single “Initial conditions”. These will also be Reptilicus’ first ever concerts on the West side of the Atlantic.
The record is issued by Yatra-Arts, Canada, and will include a remix by Cologne based electronic maestro Senking.
